What an image may help investigate
- Patterns compatible with air movement, insulation variation or moisture.
- Unusual thermal distribution on selected accessible electrical or mechanical components.
- Areas requiring confirmation through other methods such as moisture measurement or close examination.
Conditions matter
- Temperature difference, sun, wind, rain, reflective materials, recent heating and building contents affect the image. Without suitable conditions an anomaly can be reduced, exaggerated or created.
An image is not a complete diagnosis
- A cold area is not necessarily wet, and moisture is not always thermally visible. The operator must compare, corroborate and explain limitations.
Scan or thermographic assignment
- A brief scan during a general inspection does not have the same scope as a planned thermographic assignment with dedicated conditions, protocol, measurements and deliverable.
